The arms are Gules a castle wall Argent throughout towered Argent masoned Sable with port and windows Sable, issuant from a base wavy barruly wavy of six Azure and Argent and in chief dexter a steering wheel Or and in chief sinister an anchor Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VIANA DO CASTELO - MONSERRATE".

Monserrate Commune (a.k.a. "Viana do Castelo (Monserrate)") was one of the 40 pre-2013 communes of Viana do Castelo Municipality (q.v.), and one of the city boroughs (urban communes) of the municipality seat; it had 5637 inhabitants in 2001 and covered 2,07 km².
