It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field (village rank).

The arms are Argent a cogwheel Gules flanked by two maize plants Vert fruited Or and in chief on a splendour Azure a scales Or on the point of a flame sword Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "MILHEIRÓS DE POIARES".
Meaning:
Since "milheirós" is an apparently meaningless word stemming from "_milho_", "maize", these elements of the arms are canting. Sword and scales are the attributes of St. Michael.

Milheirós de Poiares Commune is one of the 21 communes of Santa Maria da Feira Municipality (q.v.); it had 3859 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 8,93 km².
