It is a fairily typical portuguese municipal flag,
with the coat of arms centered on white and
green quartered background. Flag and arms adopted and published in the
official journal Diário do Governo
: II Série in 1972.06.24, a remarkably late date.

Sometimes the depictions come, as the one at the
Municipal
website, in grey where «silver» is written in the official
description. This has originated lots of conversations in
Lusovex and the idea we have is that this
common error has sweapt through some real flags, either on the quarters, as
here, or on the scrolls. This flag should therefore be white and green. I
don’t know if they use grey in real flags or not.
