Meaning:
Laurel trees are the most abundant native species of trees in the area and was already depicted on the oldest arms of the village. Their number is representing the two local communities, the indigenous one and the French one. The scallop is a symbol of the pilgrims of St. James, their passage through the village, and the saint's adoration, especially in the church of St. Mary of Lourinhã. The fleur-de-lis are taken from the arms of Dom Jordão, the first benefactor of Lourinhã. The waves (green and white) are representing the location on the shores of the Atlantic and its importance for the local development
