It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field (village rank).
I spotted flag and tapestry displaying the arms in the local administration building on 1 October 2013.

The shield is Sable, in centre a belfry Or, masoned Sable with bell and clock Argent, flanked by two carnations Or, blossomed and tied Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "ESCALOS DE CIMA" in black initials

Escalos de Cima was one of the pre-2013 communes of Castelo Branco municipality. it had 938 inhabitants in 2011 covering 15,41 km². The commune was renamed several times as follows. Callos de Sima (until 16th century), Caldas de Cima (17th century), Escalhos de Cima (18th century), Escallos de Sima (19th century) and finally Escalos de Cima (since 20th century).
