The arms are a twig of cork oak Vert with three leaves and three acorns and in chief three scallops Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VERDERENA".

Verderena Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Barreiro Municipality(q.v.); it had 11 514 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 0,94 km².
