The arms are Gules a baron coronet flanked by a handful of wheat ears Or at dexter and a branch of cork oak Or at sinister, in chief a rail profile Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA NOVA DE BARONIA".
Meaning:
The town crown was granted because Vila Nova da Baronia was in 1280-1836 a standalone municipality. (This is not strictly according to the relevant law

Vila Nova da Baronia Commune is one of the two communes of Alvito Municipality (q.v.). It had 1328 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 124,54 km².
