A yellow eight petal rose on red. The artist was Arne E. Holm. I have seen drawings of the flag indicating a square (1:1) shape, but the flags I have seen flying in television reports have been more rectangular (some municipalities use the proportions of the national flag 8:11 regardless the recommended heraldic shape).

Trondheim (although in the article Jan Oskar shows it as unusual vertical
rectangle ca. 3:2, I put it as 8:11, which seems to be what is in use.

The flag was used in connection with 1000-years celebrations
of the
establishment of the city of Trondheim in 1997 : red flag with yellow
logo and inscription TRONDHEIM 997 - 1997.
The drawing in NFK shows approxim. 2:3 flag with somewhat different
letters, but I based my drawing on what I believe to be a more
faithful depiction of the logo at

The article in NFK reports on the news story in Dagbladet 13 March
1997, on this flags being stolen.
