Approved on 27 September 1991.
Fusa municipality is situated in Hordaland county.
The name Fusa is interpreted as describing the strong current of the fjord.
In addition, many potholes are found in the rock bed in the municipality.
Strong currents of water made these geological formations. Both these facts
led the municipality to adopt spirals as the motive for its symbols.
The flag is a white field with three blue spirals, set two over one, growing
from the centre of the field. Initiating the process leading to the adoption
of this design, was a competition resulting in about 60 submitted designs.
An exhibition was made and the people of Fusa had the opportunity to vote for
their favourite design. Heraldic artist Arvid Sveen made the final design,
and the arms and flag were approved by Royal resolution of 27
September 1991.
