The symbols of Mali Bukovec (municipal website) are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Mali Bukovec, adopted on 14 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 11 August 2009 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, No. 27, while they were not described in the previous (2006) version of the Statutes. This is repeated in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Mali Bukovec, adopted on 28 March 2013 and published on 30 March 2013 in Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, No. 18 (text).

The flag is in proportions 1:2, green with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.
Green is said to represent happiness and the natural resources of the municipality.

The coat of arms of Mali Bukovec is "Sable a St. Florian or standing on a column".
St. Florian is the patron saint of the municipality. Black is said to represent persistence, prudence, and firmness, while yellow is said to represent nobleness, openhandedness, and light.
