Presentation of Vrlika

Vrlika is located about 70 km north-east of Split. It has 2,700 inhabitants, some 1,000 in the town of the same name. The town was much ruined in the 1991-1995 occupation.
The Municipality of Vrlika was formed by secession from Sinj in 1993 and granted the Town Status in 1997.

The coat of arms is "Gules a ruined church argent masoned sable".
It represents the St. Saviour (Sv. Spas) church, originating from the 9th century, with the oldest remaining belfry in Croatia, showing the Frankish influence on the Christianisation of Croats. An almost identical coat of arms ("Azure a ruined church or"), picturing the same church, is used by the neighbouring municipality of Kijevo.
