The municipality of El Burgo Ranero (841 inhabitants in 2010; 9,834 ha) is located in the southeast of León Province, 40 km of León. The municipality is made of the villages of El Burgo Ranero (capital), Calzadilla de los Hermanillos, Las Grañeras and Villamuño.

TThe flag and arms of El Burgo Ranero are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 3 July 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 12 July 2001 by the Mayor, and published on 30 July 2001 in the official gazette of Castile and León, No. 147, p. 11,485 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, quartered, 1. and 4. Purple with a white scallop, 2. and 3. White with three green spikes.
Coat of arms: Quarterly, 1. and 4. Purpure a scallop argent, 2. and 3. Argent three spikes vert. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
