Presentation of Acebedo

The municipality of Acebedo (267 inhabitants in 2009; 5,018 ha; unofficial website) is located in the mountains (1,160 m) of the northeast of León Province, 90 km of León.
Acevedo was mentioned for the first time in 1020, as Aceveto, on a parchment kept in the Cistercian monastery of Otero de las Dueñas; the name of the village comes from acebo, "hollow", a plant commonly found in the neighbouring mountains.
