Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is a horizontal blue over white over blue flag with the coat of arms shifted to the hoist. The ratio between the stripes is 1:2:1.

The title of a city was granted to Salzuflen by the counts of Sternberg in 1322.
Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a red hexagonal well, flanked by two silver (=white) gallow trees on which golden (=yellow) buckets are hanging at golden(=yellow) ropes. Above all is a golden (=yellow) 8-point star.
Meaning:
The ensemble was used to produce salt. The star is taken from the coat of arms of the counts of Sternberg.

The ratio is 5:2. It is a vertical blue-white-blue banner with the coat of arms shifted to the top. The ratio between the stripes is 1:2:1.

Flag, banner and coat of arms were approved by Regierungspräsident Detmold on 31 March 1970.
The “new” town hall of the city is located in Schötmar.

The ratio is 3:5. It is a green over white horizontal bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.
Description of coat of arms:
In a green field is a silver(=white) gear between two fessy wavy lines of the same colour.
Meaning:
According to Ralf Hartemink’s webpage the gear is symbolizing industries, the green colour the riches of wood in the former city. The wavy lines are symbolizing the creeks Were and Bega.

The ratio is 3:5. It is a yellow over blue over yellow horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the blue stripe.
Description of coat of arms:
The golden(=yellow) shield is divided by a blue, sinister bendy line, which is superimposed by three golden(=yellow) cattails (a plant of species of genus Typha, German: Rohrkolben).

The ratio is 3:5. It is a red over yellow over red horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the yellow stripe.
Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above is in a blue field a golden(=yellow) stomp of an oak, from which are growing three leaves and three acorns of the same colour. Below in a silver(=white) field is a red heraldic rose, barbed and seeded golden(=yellow).
Meaning:
The rose and the basic colours red and yellow are symbolizing the barons of Lippe, the former rulers. The stomp might be canting. “Wüsten” means vaste land.
