Kaufbeuren Banner with Arms

[Kaufbeuren banner w/ CoA (Germany)] ~3:1 image by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 17 Mar 2014

The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side displays in a golden (= yellow) field a black demi-eagle,couped per pale (since 1323), which is symbolizing that Kaufbeuren had been a free imperial city in the Middle Ages. The sinister side is a red field , which is divided by a golden (= yellow) bend. It is flanked by two 6-point stars of the same colour. The pattern was taken from the arms of the Lords of Beuren and had been used by the city's bailiff (Stadtamtmann) from 1230 until 1287
